How To Use Advanced Filtering

Left pane

Shows the current data selection - the red and green spikes show the movements.

Middle pane

Shows the coefficients for the current transform. Larger spikes show more important contributions from a particular wave(let). Prominent spikes are usually characterised as belonging to the 'true signal' within the data, while the small values are thought of as 'noise'.

Right pane

Shows the effect of denoising using the current filter and threshold value.

To use advanced filtering:

  1. Select a filter
  2. Do the transform
  3. Select a threshold level
  4. Apply threshold

Repeat steps 1 to 4 until satisfied that you have identified signal and noise contributions to your best estimation.

If necessary, note filter type and threshold level for later use in advanced analyzer pre-processing.
